The CETL comprises 12 innovative curriculum development projects all of which address inclusivity by both broadening music education to encompass students of diverse backgrounds and promoting all musical practices that stake a claim to a place in contemporary culture; popular, classical, folk and traditional, brass band, new or avant garde, and world musics.
The CETL is a partnership between all the universities of the North East in association with The Sage Gateshead; wherever possible, CETL activities are collaborative and open to students across the partnership. The majority of the projects are run jointly by teams of academic staff from two partner institutions.
