Solo Tabla Recital
Following the success of our first CD, ‘Twilight Raags from North India’, we have recently added a further CD, ‘Shahbaz Hussain Plays Tabla Solo’, to our catalogue. This means we now have top-quality recordings featuring both our gurus on the Indian Music project.
Apart from promoting the enjoyment of Hindustani classical music more generally, the CDs are also intended for use by teachers and researchers of this repertory.
The new CD (made at Newcastle University in August 2007) features Shahbaz Hussain performing in three contrasting raags and taals. Shahbaz is accompanied by the ethereal sounds of the sarangi (a bowed instrument with resonating strings) played by the much sought-after Ilyas Khan.
