The CETL has been all about Inclusivity and Innovation; we know that music students in the North East represent a highly creative and enterprising group and we want to continue to ensure that students from all backgrounds and with all musical interests are able to take their own ideas forward. One of the great CETL success stories has been the establishment of the CETL Student Project Fund which has helped students to set up new enterprising initiatives and, in some cases, turn these into new businesses. Take a look at some of the student project links on this page and, if you have your own ideas, talk to the Careers and Enterprise Centres in your institution – they will be very keen to encourage enterprising ideas linked to the cultural sector and may have funding available.
Prospective students…
The North East of England has a thriving music scene, and the CETL for Music and Inclusivity has brought together the Universities for the North East and The Sage Gateshead, to work in partnership to develop further their specialist music provision, covering Folk, Classical, Music Technology, Popular and Contemporary, World Musics, Music Education and Sound and Music Therapy.
The Centre of Excellence for Teaching and Learning in Music and Inclusivity was one of only two music CETLs in the country. Although the CETL officially ended in March 2010, as a student at Newcastle, Durham, Teesside, Northumbria or Sunderland you would continue to be part of a wider community music students in the North East of England.
